My 50th birthday came and went. I celebrated my half-century with a party at home. With memories of the 70s in mind, I chose a Hawaiian theme. Why? Well for those who are not old enough to remember there was an American police drama on TV based on a police department in Hawaii. It's title was "Hawaii Five-O".
The traditional English BBQ did not go down well with people as much as Jeep's Thai food. Which was a hit! So, we have decided to hold a Thai buffet party for future events, and leave the English BBQ to others to organise.
The Manx summer is fast drawing to a close and the mountain heather is starting to bloom. Those hills are turning purple. Autumn (fall) is on its way!

I have posted some more baby pictures of William today and a few of PJ. All of them can be found on the 'New Baby Photos' page.

Welcome Home!
Jeep and baby Liam came home yesterday.
It's great hearing the cry of a new born babe. They don't do a lot though - poo, eat and sleep in rapid rotation. He's keeping Jeep busy. PJ gets extra cuddles from me, so he's happy too.

Baby News
Still no sign of the baby making an appearance, much to Jeep's dismay.
We will see the consultant again at Nobles hospital this afternoon.

Nearly There
We made another visit to the hospital on Wednesday morning. Jeep now has a CTG of the baby three times a week. The Consultant believes the baby will arrive by the weekend. Jeep feels that the baby's arrival is near too. So we could have a busy weekend in store.

38th Week
Last week we visited the Consultant at Nobles Hospital here on the Island. Jeep had another scan. She is now in her 38th week.
Because of Jeep's gestation diabetes we now have to visit the hospital twice weekly. Jeep's diabetes isn't serious and is being controlled by her diet.
We are now on the final countdown, and the baby could arrive anytime. It is a very uncomfortable time for Jeep. The 'Bump' is heavy and Jeep suffers from some water retention around her joints, as well as some hip and back pain. So Jeep, more than anyone, is looking forward (with some trepidation) to the big day.

Move Completed
Our move is complete and we are settling in to our new home. PJ loves the garden.
Jeep now has regular check-ups at the hospital as her time draws near. She has developed gestation diabetes, which requires close monitoring. Because of this it is unlikely that the hospital will allow Jeep to go beyond her 40th week. So it looks like the baby should arrive on time, if not before.
Congratulations to Tim and Marion on the birth of there son Oliver. Though Oliver has had some complications, he now appears to be doing well. We wish him well and that he will be home with his family soon.

Changes Afoot
Jeeps pregnancy progresses well. We are down to the last few weeks now and the excitement and expectations mount.
We will be moving soon. Still in Ramsey but into a larger property. Nicely located in the center of town. We will have a garden at last for PJ to play in safely.
Still no progress in version 2 of this site. I'm sure I will make the time soon.

50th Birthday Preview
I did not intend to leave such a big gap in my blog. I have been quite unwell since before the New Year with a chest infection. It is almost clear now, but it did slow me up a little.
I have made no progress in Version two of this site. It has taken a bit of a back seat for some time. I hope to start work on this again soon. It will not use frames and be more flexible, along with improved photo albums.
Jeep's pregnancy is moving along well and just entering her final trimester. The sex of the baby is unknown and this will be an exciting surprise to us when it arrives.
My Mum and Aunt Eve are coming over from Spain to be with us when the baby is due. This will be a welcome relief for us both, as PJ can be a handful at times.
Plans are underway for my 50th birthday celebrations in July of this year. Invites have gone out and replies have started to come in. It is planned to be an afternoon fun event, with the children in mind. Hopefully, there will be something for everyone. It should be a great summer social. I am looking forward to sharing this event will all my friends. If I have left anyone out who wants to attend then please drop me a line.

Evans Genealogy
I have added another page to my Genealogy link.
I need some help to confirm a possible link I have found between my Abraham Evans married in Skilgate in 1783, with an Abraham Evans baptised 30 miles away in Churchstanton on 25 Feb 1753 which would make my Abraham about 30 years old when he married.
Is this him?

Second Scan
Today we went to Nobles Hospital for Jeeps's second scan. The baby is now 20 weeks and 5 days old. The scan was much clearer and the baby was certainly more active during the scan, and everything is progressing well for the baby.
The sex of the child is still unknown, as it is hospital policy not to speculate based on scans. The only way we can find this out is to travel off the island. As this is unlikely, the sex will not be known until birth. So that will be a nice surprise for us.
The photo of the scan can be seen in the New Baby Album. I have also added a link on the menu to New Baby Photos for quick access.

Quake Devastation
We woke up on Christmas morning to a light dusting of snow. Does that count as a white Christmas?
This Christmas joy has been somewhat dampened by the devastation in SE Asia caused by the tsunami as a result of a massive subterranean earthquake off northern Sumatra.
Though many Thais have been effected we are not aware of any impact upon Jeep's family.
Our heartfelt sympathy goes to all those from all nations who have been effected by this shocking chain of events.

Merry Christmas
Greetings to friends and family.
To help as feel that much nearer to you all, I have added an temporary link - "Christmas Webcam".
I will leave this webcam running live throughout Christmas whilst we are at home. If the pictures are not changing then the computer has been switched off. I will leave it running all through the day on Christmas Day. You may see us enjoying our day.
If you catch us early enough about 10 o'clock Christmas morning you may catch a glimpse of PJ opening his presents.
Have a wonderful Christmas. Love to you all, from Paul, Jeep and PJ.

Evans Genealogy
I have today updated my Evans genealogy online, to include information about Robert Evans bapt. 1785.
My Cousins in Niagara, Canada - Elizabeth and Sherry, kindly supplied this information to me.
As can be seen, Robert served with the British 82nd Regiment, 1st Battalion from 1808 until 1815. He fought at Lundy's Lane, Niagara, Canada in 1814.
It is in the Niagara area that he settled and his descendants now live.

Christmas Parties
Its that time of year again.
On Friday I joined my colleagues from the I.T. Department for our annual evening out. This year we descended on "Chillies", an Indian restaurant in Douglas. The food was great and a boisterous time was had by all. Few of us, myself included, could drink much as we'd eaten a heap of food there was room for little else! Groan!! A successful evening for all I think.
On Sunday it was the turn of the children. The Company Children's Christmas party this year was held at the Hilton Hotel in Douglas. PJ thoroughly enjoyed himself. He didn't pay much attention to the entertainers, but that didn't stop him from having fun. He got a huge box of Duplo bricks from Santa. So he went home happy.

First Scan
Jeep visited the hospital today for her first scan. The new baby is growing well and has been aged as 15 weeks and 4 days. It was exciting watching this scan as I missed the experience the first time around with PJ.
The photo of the scan can be seen in the 2004 Family Album.
